What is the problem with Mirapex?
Mirapex, also known as Pramipexole, is used to raise dopamine levels in those with Parkinson’s disease or Restless Leg Syndrome. Mirapex is currently the most prescribed drug in the class of drugs called dopamine agonists. It is believed that the sudden rush of dopamine gives an anticipation of a reward, such as gambling. Some of the 1,800 men studied by the researchers have reported gambling losses greater than $60,000. For most patients, the gambling behavior got better after their drugs were changed.
