Serophene Class Action Lawsuit

Serophene Class Action Lawsuit

Birth Defects Linked to Serophene

The active ingredient in Serophene is clomiphene (Clomid), a fertility drug that stimulates ovulation. It is also a “Pregnancy Category X” drug that has been linked to birth defects.

Small amounts of Serophene remain active for at least a month. The problem is that most women don’t know pregnancy has occurred in the first few weeks or months. The longer they keep taking Serophene, the higher the risk of birth defects.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) issued a warning after an analysis of data from the National Birth Defects Prevention Study found higher rates of birth defects affecting the heart, brain, esophagus, abdomen, and skull.

Birth defects linked to Serophene:

  • Neural tube defects: Spina bifida, anencephaly — spinal cord damage occurs when the neural tube fails to close during the first few weeks of pregnancy.
  • Heart defects: Serophene is linked to “hole in the heart” (septal) and aortic defects (coarctation of the aorta)
  • Skull defects: Craniosynostosis occurs when the skull hardens too early, resulting in an abnormally-shaped head and not enough room for the brain to grow
  • Abdominal defects: Omphalocele causes the baby to be born with abdominal organs protruding outside the body
  • Hypospadia: Genital defect in males involving abnormal location of the urethra opening on the penis
  • Limb defects: Clubfoot is the most common limb defect
  • And more

What is the problem?

The Schmidt Firm, PLLC is nationally recognized as a class action law firm. However, our attorneys are filing individual lawsuits instead of a Serophene class action. We are currently accepting cases involving severe birth defects.

About Class Actions

There can be advantages to class actions for people with minor injuries. Lawyers choose a “class representative” and use that person’s case to argue for compensation on behalf of the entire group, which can improve efficiency and save costs.

Why Our Law Firm is Filing Individual Lawsuits as Opposed to a Class Action

Class actions can have disadvantages for individuals with severe injuries. Members may have to accept a “low-ball” settlement, higher attorneys’ fees, or watch their attorney take a huge cut of the payout.

Instead of a class action, our lawyers specialize in filing individual lawsuits against major pharmaceutical companies. We work on contingency-fee, which means we only get paid when we win.

If you decide to file a lawsuit, you could receive compensation for your child’s pain and suffering, medical expenses, permanent injuries, your lost income, and more.
