BD ChloraPrep Recall for Mold Contamination
In April 2021, BD expanded a recall nationwide for ChloraPrep™ 3mL applicators due to a risk ofe fungal contamination, which could lead to infections or death to patients undergoing medical procedures.
ChloraPrep Recalled Due to Risk of Fungal Infections
BD initiated the recall on June 23, 2020, but only included regions with tropical climates at the time. BD determined that high heat and humidity (86ºF and 75% relative humidity), allows the growth of the fungus Aspergillus penicillioides.
