Target and Trader Joe’s Recalls Hummus Dip for Listeria Risk

May 23, 2014 — Trader Joe’s and Target have initiated a recall for nearly 15,000 pounds of hummus and dip due to the risk of food poisoning with the Listeria bacteria. No illnesses have been linked to the recalled products.

The manufacturer, Hot Mama’s Foods, is based in Massachusetts but sells products nationwide. The recall was issued after the Texas Department of Health discovered Listeria during routine testing in a sample of Target Archer Farms Traditional Hummus (10 ounce).

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has provided pictures of recalled products. Use-by dates range between April and June 2014.

Brands included in the recall:

  • Target Archer Farms Traditional Hummus
  • Target Archer Farms Roasted Garlic Tapenade
  • Target Archer Farms Roasted Red Pepper
  • Giant Eagle Chipotle
  • Giant Eagle Garlic Hummus
  • Trader Joe’s Edamame Hummus
  • Trader Joe’s 5 Layered Dip
  • Tryst Yellow Lentil Hummus with Sunflower Seeds & Apricots
