Military Bans Sale of DMAA on Bases | Contact a DMAA Lawyer

January 4, 2012 — If you have suffered a side effect after taking DMAA (DMAA Party Pills, Jack3d, OxyELITE Pro, or other workout supplement), you should contact a DMAA lawyer. You may have a DMAA lawsuit. There is growing evidence that the drug is dangerous, and can lead to serious, life-threatening side effects. Following the deaths of two soldiers who were found to have the drug in their bloodstream, the Department of Defense has banned the sale and use of the products on military bases. The drug was also found in the bloodstream of three soldiers and two Marines who collapsed during heavy exercise. The military based its decision on evidence that DMAA can cause changes in blood pressure, headaches, light-headedness, stroke, depression, irregular heartbeat, dehydration, tremors, and lethal exhaustion.

The U.S. Army and Air Force Exchange Service stores have removed all products that contain this banned drug from their shelves. A spokesperson said that officials are concerned about heart illness, kidney and liver damage, and sudden death in service members. The military ban will remain in effect while it reviews the scientific literature and reported events.

DMAA is popular among fitness enthusiasts for its stimulant properties, similar to amphetamines and ephedrine, but weaker. It is also known as 1,3-dimethylamylamine, methylhexanamine (MHA), and “geranium oil” or extract. There is no credible scientific evidence linking DMAA to the geranium plant, and the American Herbal Products Association has recently required that its members no longer label DMAA as geranium oil or any part of the geranium plant.

It is sold as a dietary supplement for weight-loss, pre-workout booster, and energy enhancer. Some popular drugs containing this drug include Jack3d, OxyElite Pro, Nutrex Lipo 6, and more. Several of these products are now the focus of DMAA lawsuits. If you use these products and have experienced a side effect, you may want to contact a DMAA lawyer.

DMAA is a is a vasoconstrictor, which narrows the blood vessels by contracting the small small muscles in the walls of the blood vessels. It is also a central nervous system stimulant similar to amphetamines. There is growing evidence that it poses serious health risks and has potentially life-threatening side effects.

Some people who have been injured are now contacting a DMAA lawyer, taking legal action, and seeking compensation for their injuries. A class action DMAA lawsuit was filed against USPLabs in California in November 2011. USPLabs markets and sells Jack3d and OxyElite Pro. Another class action lawsuit was filed in Florida against BPI Sports.
