August 11, 2014 — RegeneSlim is a popular diet pill that has been recalled because it contains DMAA, a synthetic stimulant drug that has been linked to severe, life-threatening cardiovascular side effects.
The recall was issued by the manufacturer, Regeneca Worldwide, a division of VivaCeuticals, Inc. of Las Vegas, Nevada. Although no illnesses or injuries have been reported, the FDA has received at least 86 adverse event reports associated with DMAA.
The FDA warns:
“DMAA is potentially dangerous to health as it can narrow blood vessels and arteries, which can cause a rise in blood pressure or other cardiovascular problems such as shortness of breath, arrhythmias, tightening in the chest, and heart attack.”

The label on RegeneSlim lists 1,3-dimethylpentylamine HCL, which is similar to DMAA (1,3-dimethylamylamine or geranium stem). Laboratory testing by the FDA detected the presence of DMAA. Lot # EX0616R15814 and lot #11414RE5516 are now recalled.
The products are sold by a direct sales force inside the United States and Puerto Rico. Two pills are packaged in a 3.5”-3” green and white sachets with “RegeneSlim” displayed prominently on the front of the sachet.
The recall is part of a broader FDA crackdown on DMAA that began in 2012, when the agency sent warning letters to 10 major dietary supplement manufacturers. The most popular products, OxyElite Pro and Jack3D, have been taken off the market. Unfortunately, new products continue to be introduced.
