March 20, 2014 — Dyson is recalling approximately 1 million of its bladeless heaters and heaters/coolers due to the risk of “contained burning,” which may be a fire hazard. The company has received four reports of burning, but no reports of injury or property damage
The recall affects Dyson Hot heaters (AM04) and Dyson Hot+Cool heaters (AM05). To check whether your heater is part of the recall, visit the Dyson recall website. After entering the serial number of your heater, you will need to register with Dyson to receive instructions about how to get a refund. If you have questions, contact Dyson at 1-866-297-5303.,
Dyson recommends that people who own the recalled heaters should immediately stop using them and unplug them.
Dyson CEO Max Conze stated:
“We have sold a million heaters around the world; we have seen a small number short-circuit, which in four cases resulted in contained burning. Although there have been no instances of personal injury or damage to property, it’s four too many. So we are working with the relevant regulatory bodies and preparing for a voluntary recall.”
