October 28, 2021 — A jury in Florida has awarded $15 million to a man who was severely burned when a vape battery exploded in his pocket.
The plaintiff, Manuel O., suffered 3rd-degree burns after the battery exploded and leaked acid, causing his leg to catch on fire.
The incident occurred in March 2016. In 2017, he filed a lawsuit in against Vapor Life LLC and Vapor Life 5 LLC. Another defendant, EcigRus LLC, reached a settlement before the trial.
The battery was manufactured by Shenzhen Battery Company Ltd. and it was sold to a Vapor Life store in Plantation, Florida.
The lawsuit was filed in the Circuit Court for the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit of Florida — Case Number 17-010173-08
