Hoovy Cooling Pads Recalled for Burn Risk to Children

In September 2025, about 20,000 Hoovy Cooling Gel Insert Pads for Strollers and Car Seats were recalled because the pad can get too hot in the sun or a hot car, which is a burn hazard for babies and children.

What is the Problem?

Cooling pads for strollers and car seats can get dangerously hot if the stroller is left out in the sun, or if the car seat is in a hot car. Babies and children are especially vulnerable to burn injuries because their skin is thinner and more delicate than an adult.

How Many Kids Were Burned?

The recalled Hoovy Cooling Pads were linked to 1 report of a boy who suffered 2nd-degree burn injuries on his back that required medical attention, according to the recall.

How Serious Is a 2nd-Degree Burn?

Second-degree burns involve the outer layer of skin (epidermis) and inner layer of skin (dermis). They can be severe if they are deep or widespread, especially in children.

The symptoms and complications of 2nd-degree burns include:

  • Severe pain
  • Skin blistering, redness, and swelling
  • Scarring
  • Skin discoloration (burned skin is lighter or darker than surrounding skin)
  • Skin graft surgery for healing
  • Infection
  • Hospitalization
  • Permanent disfigurement

How To Identify Recalled Cooling Gel Pads

Hoovy Cooling Gel Insert Pads for Strollers and Car Seats contain an inner layer of cooling gel that is activated by the weight of a child.

The box has the “hoovy” logo and product name “Keep-Cool Stroller / Car Seat Insert,” with SKU HV-1275 and UPC 850001215008.

The pads are black in color, with the “hoovy” logo in white on the bottom-right corner of the pad. The pads have an irregular shape, but measure approximately 16.5 inches long by 14.25 inches wide.

Where Were They Sold?

The recalled Hoovy Cooling Gel Insert Pads were sold nationwide at Target stores, Target.com, and Walmart.com from March 2025 through July 2025 for about $20 to $25.

Can I Get a Refund?

Yes. The manufacturer is offering customers a full refund for the recalled Hoovy Cooling Gel Pads. Parents and caregivers should immediately stop using the recalled Cooling Gel Insert Pads and visit the recall website: https://hoovyproducts.com/pages/product-recall, where you will find instructions on how to email a photo of your product to get a refund.

Stroller & Car Seat Cooling Pad Lawsuits

Cooling pads were advertised to keep babies and children cool and comfortable in strollers and car seats. Instead, they can get dangerously hot, resulting in burn injuries.

For parents and caregivers, this is an alarming situation that could potentially result in lawsuits against the manufacturer on behalf of children who suffered painful burn injuries, or required medical treatment.
