February 15, 2023 — Nissan recalled more than 404,000 vehicles in the U.S. because a logo on the steering wheel can fly off and injure the driver when the airbag inflates.
Nissan said it received 4 reports of drivers who were injured in the U.S., but no deaths were reported.
The problem is that the “Nissan” logo emblem on the center of the steering wheel horn button can potentially break apart and become a dangerous projectile when the airbag inflates.
According to Nissan, the airbag logos were manufactured improperly, causing them to weaken over time and sometimes develop cracks.
The recall involves the following vehicles:
- 2008-2011 Nissan Titan (75,530)
- 2008-2011 Nissan Frontier (113,313)
- 2008-2011 Nissan Xterra (72,601)
- 2008-2011 Nissan Pathfinder (70,693)
- 2008-2011 Nissan Armada (43,616)
- 2008-2009 Nissan Quest (28,937)
Owners of the recalled vehicles will be asked to bring their vehicle into a Nissan dealership to have the part inspected.
