NuvaRing Class Action Lawsuit Information
NuvaRing is a birth control device manufactured by Merck & Co. that has been on the market since 2001. Women insert the O-shaped NuvaRing into the vagina, where it slowly releases hormones that prevent pregnancy.
Unfortunately, studies published in the last few years have linked the hormones in NuvaRing to an increased risk of blood clots compared to older contraceptives. Despite safety concerns, NuvaRing has not been recalled.
Merck & Co. is facing thousands of NuvaRing lawsuits, but the cases are not consolidated into a NuvaRing class action. They are individual lawsuits. Most cases have been centralized in federal court in Missouri. There are also about 200 lawsuits pending in state court in New Jersey.
