May 24, 2021 — A farmer in Iowa filed a class action lawsuit for thousands of agricultural workers who may be at risk of Parkinson’s Disease from using Paraquat weed-killing chemicals.
The lawsuit was filed by Doug H., a man who has been farming thousands of acres of land in Greenfield, Iowa, for decades. He began spraying Paraquat on his crops in the 1990s.
Now, he believes that his use of Paraquat has increased his risk of Parkinson’s Disease, a severe and incurable neurological illness that can take years to develop.
He is seeking ongoing medical monitoring for himself and thousands of other agricultural workers who were exposed to Paraquat, but have not yet developed Parkinson’s disease.
The Paraquat Class Action Lawsuit was filed on May 3, 2021 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Iowa — Case Number 4:21-cv-00137-RGE-HCA.
