December 3, 2019 — A well-known Alabama evangelist pleaded guilty to 28 counts of raping and sexually abusing six teenage boys between the ages of 13 and 16 years old.
Paul Acton Bowen, 39, was first arrested in April 2018 after a teenage boy reported that he had been sodomized in Bowen’s home.
After Bowen was arrested, authorities said additional victims came forward while he was in jail.
At least two of the boys said Bowen offered to pay them hundreds of dollars to perform sexual acts.
Bowen has been charged with sodomy, sexual abuse, enticing a child to enter a vehicle or house for immoral purposes, and traveling to meet a child for sexual acts.
Bowen is the president of Acton Bowen Outreach Ministries. He served for 12 years in a local church, led a citywide student Bible study in Gadsden, wrote books, hosted and co-hosted multiple TV shows worldwide, and traveled to speak at Christian youth events.
He was also regular contributor on Fox News in New York City, where he served as a correspondent on faith and religion.
