September 14, 2018 — A former basketball coach at several high schools in the Santa Clarita Valley is accused of inappropriately touching at least 8 teenage boys since 2008.
Jeremy Haggerty, 34, was arrested in Tustin on suspicion of sexually molesting children during private basketball coaching sessions at his home or the homes of the boys he victimized.
The investigation began last month when the Special Victims Bureau of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department received an allegation of child molestation against Haggerty.
During the investigation, 7 more victims were identified. All of the victims are now adults, according to Sgt. Brian Hudson:
“He would make it so that he was eventually alone with the victims, providing what he termed ‘body maintenance’ to the victims — another word for massages. In each case, the massages would lead to the suspect inappropriately touching all of our victims.”
Haggerty worked at Trinity Classical Academy and in three public schools in the area, including Valencia High School, Canyon High School and West Ranch High School.
He was arrested as he was leaving a school where he was recently employed. His bail was set at $300,000 and an arraignment date was scheduled for September 17.
