April 24, 2015 — For the second time this year, a recall has been issued by Inventure Foods, Inc., for frozen products that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
The recalled products have not been linked to any reports of food poisoning. The recall was issued after Listeria was found in a facility in Jefferson, Georgia.
The recall includes certain Jamba “At Home” smoothie mixes and Fresh Frozen™ frozen vegetables. The products have best-by dates between March 18, 2016 and October 17, 2016 and are marked with with codes between 72644AH01 and 71075AH01.
Inventure only sold the Jamba “At Home” smoothie kits east of the Mississippi River.
The Fresh Frozen vegetables were widely sold at retail stores and food service accounts in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, Nebraska, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
In January, Inventure Foods issued another recall for Radar Farms Fresh Start Smoothie Blend, Fresh Start Sunrise Refresh Fusion and Fresh Start Daily Powder Fusion because they might be contaminated with Listeria.
The FDA warns about life-threatening complications for people with vulnerable immune systems, especially children, older adults, and pregnant women:
“Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.”
