What is Zinbryta?
Zinbryta is an injectable medication for adults with relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis (MS). It was developed by Biogen and Abbvie, Inc., and works by minimizing inflammation, nerve damage, and loss of brain tissue in patients with MS.
Zinbryta Removed from the Market Worldwide
In March 2018, Zinbryta was pulled off the market worldwide after it was linked to 12 reports of patients who suffered “serious brain disorders,” including encephalitis and meningoencephalitis, or death.
Zinbryta was pulled off the market on March 2, the same day that European regulators recommended an immediate recall of Zinbryta. In the U.S., the FDA warned that potentially deadly side effects of Zinbryta can occur at any time during treatment, and up to 4 months after stopping treatment.
