January 22, 2024 — Bell Helmets has recalled about 11,000 Bell Slope Adult Bicycle Helmets because they may fail to prevent head injuries.
No injuries were reported, but the strap anchor can become dislodged from the helmet when sufficient force is applied, according to the recall.
According to the CPSC, “The helmets can fail to protect in the event of a crash, posing a risk of head injury.”
The recall only involves Bell Slope Adult Bicycle Helmets, which can be identified by the model name “Slope” and “B1161X” written on the inner helmet sticker.
They were sold at Target, Fred Meyer, Academy, other stores nationwide and other websites from January 2023 through April 2023 for about $30.
Bell Helmets is asking customers to immediately stop using the recalled Bell Adult Slope helmets and contact the company for a refund. For more information, call Bell Helmets at 800-456-2355 (Option 3) between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT Monday through Friday.
