UPDATE: MG Foods Adds Turkey Wraps to Expanded Recall

On March 19, 2021, MG Foods expanded a recall to include 3 more turkey wrap sandwiches that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria.

The turkey wraps were distributed between March 3, 2021 and March 5, 2021 and packaged in clear plastic wedges & plastic wrap. They were sold in vending machines and micro markets in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and West Virginia.

The expanded recall includes the following turkey wraps:

Original Recall: MG Foods Recalls Turkey Sandwiches for Listeria Risk

On March 10, 2021, MG Foods recalled 34 varieties of turkey sandwiches due to a risk of Listeria monocytogenes bacteria contamination, which could lead to severe food poisoning illnesses.

Where Were the Recalled Sandwiches Sold?

The recalled sandwiches were distributed in 4 states (Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and West Virginia), including the Charlotte Douglas International Airport, mini markets, and vending machines.

The sandwiches were sold under the brand-names Fresh To You® and MG Foods®, sold in plastic wedges or paper bags, from March 3 through March 5, 2021.

What Sandwiches Were Recalled at the Charlotte Douglas Airport?

The recall involves three types of sandwiches at the Charlotte Douglas Airport, including:

  • MG Foods Combo Half & Half
  • MG Foods Turkey & Cheddar BLT
  • MG Foods Turkey & Swiss Croissant

What Other Sandwiches Were Recalled?

MG Foods also recalled dozens of other types of sandwiches from vending machines and mini marts, including Club Subs, Paninis, Ham & Turkey, Turkey & Cheese (cheddar, swiss, provolone, pepperjack, etc.), Hoagies, Croissants, Tuscan Turkey Ciabatta, BLTs, and more. Were Any Illnesses Reported?

No illnesses were reported as of March 10, but Listeria illnesses can take several weeks to cause symptoms. MG Foods issued the recall voluntarily after Listeria was detected on surfaces used to make the sandwiches, according to the FDA.
