According to the CPSC notice, Amazon received 8 reports of weight plates not engaging completely during weight adjustment and dislodging during use. No injuries have been reported.
What Is the Problem?

“The weight plates can fail to engage completely during weight adjustment and dislodge from the dumbbell handle when used posing an impact hazard.”
A 55-pound adjustable dumbbell relies on weight plates locking securely onto the handle during weight adjustment. If a plate fails to engage and then dislodges mid-lift, the consequences can be severe. A heavy plate falling from overhead or from a curl position can strike the user’s head, face, chest, legs, or feet, and can also strike anyone standing nearby.
