  • Other stores in California and Nevada: Recalled brown cage free eggs and brown certified organic eggs, with sell by dates from March 4, 2025, to June 4, 2025, were distributed in California and Nevada to retail locations including Save Mart, FoodMaxx, Lucky, Smart & Final, Safeway, Raleys, Food 4 Less and Ralphs.

What is the Risk?

Salmonella is a bacteria that can cause serious and sometimes fatal food poisoning infections. Healthy people usually recover in about 4-7 days, but infections with Salmonella may require hospitalization.

The risk of severe complications increases for high-risk people, such as adults over 65 years old, children younger than 5, people with weakened immune systems, and pregnant women.

The FDA warned people about the following risks:

“Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.”
