Autumn Turkey Sandwiches Recalled for Listeria Risk

In November 2024, the Indiana-based company CIBUS Fresh announced a recall for certain Autumn Turkey Sandwiches that could pose a risk of food poisoning infections with Listeria.

What Happened?

The sandwiches were made with Brie cheese. CIBUS said it was notified of a risk of Listeria contamination by a supplier.

The sandwiches were made with Glenview Farms Spreadable Brie, 2/3lb, which was recalled earlier in November 2024 by Savencia Cheese USA due to a risk of Listeria contamination, along with several other types of soft cheeses, such as Brie and Camembert.

Where Were The Recalled Sandwiches Sold?

CIBUS Fresh recalled Autumn Turkey Sandwiches that were made with Brie cheese. They were distributed in the following 6 states: Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Ohio, and Tennessee.

How To Identify Recalled Sandwiches

The sandwiches were sold under the brand-names CIBUS Fresh®, Jack & Olive®, and Sprig and Sprout®, according to the recall.

Consumers can identify the recalled items with the following information:

  • CIBUS Fresh® Autumn Turkey Sandwich: 9.65oz – Item Number / Code 79616; UPC 00810028251915; and Expiration Dates 11/02/24 to 11/09/24
  • Jack & Olive® Autumn Turkey Sandwich: 9.65oz – Item Number / Code 79615; UPC 00810028251915; Expiration Dates 11/02/24 to 11/09/24
  • Sprig and Sprout® Autumn Turkey Sandwich: 9.65oz – Item Number / Code 84408; UPC 00810028251915; Expiration Dates 11/03/24 to 11/09/24

Did Anyone Get Sick?

No illnesses were linked to the recalled Autumn Turkey Sandwiches when the recall was announced. However, people who eat food that is contaminated with Listeria can develop severe food poisoning.

What is the Risk?

The risk of a severe, life-threatening infection is higher for pregnant women and their babies, young children, frail or elderly adults, and other people with weakened immune systems.

In healthy adults, infections with Listeria may cause short-term symptoms like a high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, according to the FDA.
