Hisense Recalls 81,800 Babysense Max View Baby Monitors

In February 2026, Hisense Ltd. announced a recall for approximately 81,800 Babysense Max View Baby Monitors due to a fire hazard. No injuries were reported, but there were 11 reports of incidents in which the display unit overheated or started sparking when it was charging.

Where Were They Sold?

The recalled baby monitors were sold online at Amazon.com, Walmart.com, and babylist.com from January 2023 through December 2025, priced between $90 and $180.

What is the Problem?

The fire hazard involves the display unit (also called the “parent unit”) of the Babysense Max View Baby Monitor. It is a handheld screen that allows parents to see and hear their baby. When it is connected to a charger, the display unit can overheat and/or spark, which creates a fire hazard. According to the recall:

“The display or ‘parent’ unit of the Max View baby monitors can overheat and/or spark when charging, posing a fire hazard to consumers.”

How Many People Were Affected?

Hisense said it received 11 reports of incidents involving the display unit. No physical injuries were confirmed, but an overheating and sparking device presents safety risks, including:

  • Fire or smoke damage to property
  • Risk of fire spreading in the home, particularly in or near the nursery
  • Potential harm to infants or other household members

How To Identify Recalled Baby Monitors

The recalled baby monitors can be identified with the following information:

  • Product Name: Babysense Max View Baby Monitor
  • Model Number: VBM55 (display unit model number “VBM55RX” printed on back label)
  • Screen: “5.5” HD 1080P” printed on the upper left of the monitor screen; “babysense” logo on the lower portion
  • Sold at: Amazon.com, Walmart.com, and babylist.com
  • Sale dates: January 2023 through December 2025
  • Price range: $90 to $180
  • Manufacturer: Hisense Ltd., of Israel; manufactured in China

What Should I Do?

Consumers should stop using the display unit immediately. Do not continue to charge the device. You can contact Hisense for a free replacement display unit that does not pose a fire hazard.

Important disposal note: Do not throw this recalled device in the trash, curbside recycling bins, or used battery recycling boxes. The recalled unit contains a lithium-ion battery, which must be disposed of separately. Contact your municipal household hazardous waste (HHW) collection center before bringing it in — call ahead to confirm they accept recalled lithium-ion batteries.

For a free replacement, contact Hisense or visit the recall website at www.recallsecure.com or www.babysensemonitors.com and click on “Product Recalls.”
