April 4, 2017 — Another recall has been issued for portable table saw stands that can collapse unexpectedly and cause severe injuries to anyone standing nearby.
The latest recall involves Black & Decker 10″ Portable Table Saws with black metal fold-up stands.
They were sold exclusively at Walmart stores and online at www.walmart.com for $190 from February 2016 to August 2016. Approximately 400 table saws are included in the recall.
The recalled table saws have model number JT2504BD printed on the front right side, along with the brand-name “Black+Decker” and the manufacturer, Power Tool Specialists, Inc.
No injuries have been linked to the stands collapsing, but the manufacturer issued this warning:
“In some instances, the stand may unexpectedly collapse. As a result, users could be struck by the product or be cut or otherwise injured.”
The black metal foldable stands were manufactured by Rexon Industrial Corp. Ltd. of Taiwan. The same company recalled 45,000 Sears Craftsman 10″ Portable Table Saws with a similar stand.
The Craftsman table saw recall was issued after 11 reports of the stand suddenly collapsing, and 9 people who suffered broken bones, lacerations, a shoulder strain, and a partial fingertip amputation.
Consumers who one the recalled table saws should stop using them immediately and contact Rexon for a free replacement stand. You can call Rexon toll-free at 866-934-6360 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday or go online at www.rexon.net and click on “Safety Information.”
