What is Byetta?
Byetta (exenatide) is a medication that comes in a pre-loaded injection pen. It is used by people with type-2 diabetes to help control their blood sugar levels. The active drug in Byetta reduces blood-sugar levels by stimulating the pancreas to secrete extra insulin. Interestingly, Byetta was developed from the poisonous saliva of the Gila monster, a large lizard found in the American Southwest.
