Diflucan and Birth Defects
In 2011, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) published a Safety Warning to warn that women who use high doses of Diflucan (400-800 mg/day) may be more likely to have a baby with a rare pattern of distinct birth defects. Birth defects are not associated with single low-dose use of Diflucan for vaginal yeast infections.
Diflucan birth defects include:
- Congenital heart disease
- Cleft lip or cleft palate
- Abnormal skull development
- Femoral bowing
- Thin ribs and long bones
- Muscle weakness
- Joint deformities
- Flat head syndrome or head defect (brachycephaly)
What is the problem?
The Schmidt Firm, PLLC is nationally recognized as a class action law firm, but our Defective Drug Litigation Group is not filing a Diflucan class action lawsuit. Our trial attorneys believe the best way we can help each of our clients maximize their financial recovery is through individual lawsuits. Instead of a class action, we are evaluating individual legal claims on behalf of children who were injured by birth defects caused by Diflucan.
About Class Actions
Class action lawsuits are useful and beneficial when hundreds or thousands of people have the same legal claim. However, they are not designed to help individuals with severe injuries seek compensation and justice. Members of class actions often must accept higher attorneys’ fees or a “low-ball” settlement.
Why Our Law Firm is Filing Individual Lawsuits as Opposed to a Diflucan Class Action
Birth defects associated with Diflucan are extremely serious. Children with birth defects often have severe pain and suffering, ongoing medical expenses, multiple surgeries, permanent disfigurement, and more.
There is no excuse for drug-makers who fail to warn about this risk. Our attorneys file individual lawsuits because we believe each child deserves a personal legal representative to fight for justice on their behalf. We always review new cases for free and typically work on contingency-fee. Contact us today to learn more.
