July 17, 2019 — Pita Pal Foods, LP, of Houston, Texas, has issued a voluntary recall for dozens of hummus products that may be contaminated with Listeria.
FDA inspectors found Listeria monocytogenes bacteria in the manufacturing facility, but not in finished food products, according to the recall notice.
The recalled hummus was manufactured between May 30, 2019 and June 25, 2019. It was sold nationwide in the U.S. and the United Arab Emirates.
The following brand-names are included in the recall: Harris Teeter, Lantana, Hummus Hummus, Lidl, Pita Pal, Reasor’s, Roundy’s, Schnucks, 7-Select, Bucee’s, and Fresh Thyme.

Infections with Listeria monocytogenes can cause severe or life-threatening infections, with complications such as meningitis (brain inflammation) and bloodstream infections. In pregnant women, Listeria infections can cause miscarriage or stillbirth.
