Dr. Barry Brock Sex Abuse Lawsuits
In January 2025, multiple sex abuse lawsuits were filed by a group of 167 women against Dr. Barry J. Brock, a former OB/GYN who worked for decades at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Beverly Hills, California.
Birth Trauma & Gynecological Abuse
Dr. Brock is accused of birth trauma and gynecological abuse, which is a type of sex abuse that is performed by doctors under the guise of medical care, when it is really for the doctor’s own perverted sexual pleasure.
What Happened?
Dr. Barry J. Brock, a former OB/GYN, was terminated at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Beverly Hills in September 2024 after he was accused of sexually abusing and exploiting women who were seeking medical care.
For decades, women were traumatized by his lack of professionalism, sexually explicit comments, failure to use gloves during exams, forcing them to undress in front of him, and rough exams of their breasts and genitals that had no purpose other than his own sexual gratification.
Birth Trauma During Labor & Delivery
Dr. Brock’s victims also include innocent babies who were born with cracked skulls as a result of vacuum extractions, women who nearly died of severe bleeding during traumatic births, and women who were physically scarred or disfigured by his post-birth “vaginal rejuvenation” surgeries without consent.
“Brock Babies” Suffered Cracked Skulls
Dr. Brock was so notorious in the NICU that they coined the term “Brock Babies” to describe infants who suffered cracked skulls, allegedly as a result of his use of unnecessary vacuum extractions to speed up labor. These babies may have suffered lifelong injuries as a result of head injuries at birth.
Nurses Called Him “Brock The Butcher” for Traumatic Births
He was also known as “Brock the Butcherer” for the alarming rate of mothers who suffered severe bleeding post-childbirth. Lawsuits from women who survived these life-threatening “blood-bath deliveries” claim he insisted on vaginal deliveries for his own sexual gratification, rather than C-sections.
Cedars-Sinai Accused of Cover-Up for Decades
Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is also accused of a “decades-long cover-up,” according to the lawsuits. The first complaints against Dr. Brock surfaced in the early 2000s, and women continued to report his abuses for the next 20 years — but Cedars-Sinai did not investigate or terminate his medical privileges until September 2024, which enabled the sex abuse to continue.
Cedars-Sinai Suspends Dr. Brock in August 2024
Dr. Brock began his career at Cedars-Sinai in the 1970s. Over the next 50 years, many women complained about his behavior — but it was not until mid-2024, when reports of his sexual misconduct became so horrifying that officials at Cedars-Sinai had to investigate.
In August 2024, Cedars-Sinai suspended Dr. Brock’s medical privileges. They officially terminated Dr. Brock’s employment in September 2024, just a few weeks after the investigation began.
Types of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Dr. Brock
The sexual abuse allegations against Dr. Barry Brock include birth trauma and gynecological abuse during medical exams, such as:
- Sexual assault and inappropriate physical contact
- Not using gloves during exams
- Medically unnecessary pelvic, rectal, and breast exams for his own sexual gratification
- Exams described as rough, physically dominating, or even violent
- Lewd and sexually-explicit comments during sensitive exams
- Failing to use chaperones during sensitive exams
- Performing medical procedures post-childbirth without consent, such as using extra sutures without permission, which survivors described as “female genital mutilation”
- Forcing women to undress in front of him (or refusing to give women a gown during exams)
- Life-threatening birth trauma for infants and mothers
- Forced use of medical instruments for sexual gratification
- And more
He Used Extra Stitches To Make Women “Virgin-Tight”
One of Dr. Brock’s abusive practices involved adding extra stitches to the vagina — without consent — when sewing up vaginal tears after childbirth. He claimed these extra stitches would make women “virgin tight” or called it a “free vaginal rejuvenation.”
But instead, these extra stitches often resulted in serious pain, more tearing during sex, incontinence, or disfigurement.
This is why husbands and partners of women who were injured by Dr. Brock may be able to join a lawsuit and seek compensation for loss of consortium.
What Should I Do?
If you are a survivor of sexual abuse by Dr. Barry Brock, you are not alone. Lawsuits have been filed by more than a hundred women and their spouses.
The survivors are still coming forward. This type of litigation can develop over many years, with more women coming forward to join the lawsuit as public awareness and word-of-mouth spreads in the community.
OB/GYN Sex Abuse Lawsuits
Sexual abuse by a doctor is unique because some survivors may not even realize that they were sexually abused until it becomes well-publicized in the news. This is because doctors (who are actually sexual predators) will claim they are performing sensitive exams for legitimate medical reasons, lying to patients in order to gain their trust, but really for their own perverted pleasure.
How Can A Lawsuit Help?
Lawsuits can have many benefits for survivors of sexual abuse by doctors. Not only will survivors be able to seek justice and compensation, they will help hold hospitals accountable for ignoring complaints, failing to stop known abusers from continuing to victimize other women, and more.
Birth Injury Lawsuits Against Dr. Brock
Dr. Barry Brock and Cedars-Sinai could be held liable in several types of lawsuits, including birth injury lawsuits, individual lawsuits, or class actions.
If you join a class action or file an individual lawsuit against Dr. Brock and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, you may be able to seek compensation for:
- Pain and suffering
- Medical bills
- Long-term injuries, like chronic pain or disfigurement
- Emotional and physical trauma
