Do You Qualify for a DraftKings Lawsuit?
Our lawyers are reviewing cases for people who were harmed by online sports betting. Lawsuits and class actions have already been filed against DraftKings in many states.
DraftKings Lawsuit: “I Got Hooked And Lost Everything”
For example, a recent DraftKings lawsuit was filed in Pennsylvania on behalf of 5 men who lost large amounts of money. The lawsuit claims that the DraftKings sports betting app “targets and exploits people dealing with gambling addictions.”
One of the plaintiffs is a teacher from Pittsburgh who earned about $50,000 per year. After draining his own bank account, he borrowed money from loved ones. He lost $134,000 on DraftKings.
Another man who joined the lawsuit said he asked DraftKings to shut his account down permanently and be added to the state self-exclusion list. Instead, he was still able to gamble on DraftKings. As a result, he lost more than $350,000.
Do You Qualify for a DraftKings Lawsuit?
You may qualify to file a DraftKings lawsuit if you (or a loved one):
- Between 18 and 30 years old when using DraftKings
- Used online sports betting platforms like DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, Caesars, ESPN Bet, etc.
- Suffered from gambling addiction
- Lost $10,000 or more
- Experienced (or witnessed a loved one’s) physical injuries, emotional trauma, suicidal behavior, emotional breakdowns, or loss of a loved one due to compulsive sports betting
DraftKings Lawsuit for Consumer Law Violations
DraftKings has been hit with multiple lawsuits and class actions for using deceptive advertisements to trick people into depositing money and betting on sports, in violation of consumer protection laws.
Lawyers claim that DraftKings used these misleading advertisements to trick people into gambling. Some of them lost thousands of dollars as a result of a sports betting addiction, according to The Boston Globe.
DraftKings Lawsuit Settlement Ends in $3 Million Payout
Lawsuits have already ended in settlements where DraftKings did not admit fault, but agreed to pay back millions of dollars to people.
In July 2025, the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) announced a lawsuit settlement in which DraftKings agreed to return over $3 million to 7,000 people in Connecticut who signed up as a result of misleading promotions like a “50% Casino Deposit Match” or “Bonus Match.”
Players were misled into believing that if they made their first deposit, DraftKings would immediately give them a 50% deposit match. Instead, players were unable to access the bonus funds until they met certain requirements, such as a “play-through” or “rollover.”
The hidden terms of this promotion require people to deposit and gamble almost entirely with their own money, which they often lose.
How Can a Lawsuit Help?
Every case is unique and no outcome is guaranteed. The litigation against sports betting apps is also in its earliest stages. Lawyers and people who are filing these lawsuits are seeking damages, such as:
- Money lost due to a gambling addiction
- Financial debt or bankruptcy
- Lost income, or career opportunities due to gambling addiction
- Mental health issues (i.e., PTSD, anxiety, depression, etc.)
- Treatment for gambling addiction
- Therapy or rehabilitation
- Emotional trauma for victims and their loved ones
- And more
