Giant Eagle Recalls Smoked Mozzarella Pasta Salad
In October 2025, Giant Eagle announced a voluntary recall for “Smoked Mozzarella Pasta Salad” products sold in 4 states that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria.

No illnesses were linked to the recalled products, according to Giant Eagle. However, the recalled “Smoked Mozzarella Pasta Salad” items contain penne pasta ingredients that are part of a nationwide recall, according to health officials.

The recall involves “Smoked Mozzarella Pasta Salad” that was sold starting on September 25, 2025 at Giant Eagle and Market District grocery stores in western Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland and Indiana.
These products include:
- Smoked Mozzarella Penne Salad: Weight (varies); Expiration Date 9/30/25 through 10/7/25, UPC 256616000000
- Smoked Mozzarella Penne Salad – Small: Weight 4 lbs 8 oz; Expiration Date 9/30/25 through 10/3/25; UPC 246511000000
- Smoked Mozzarella Penne Salad – Large: Weight 9 lbs; Expiration Date 9/30/25 through 10/3/25; UPC 246512000000
What Should I Do?
Customers who bought the recalled pasta salad can return it to their local Giant Eagle or Market District grocery store with a “qualifying receipt” for a full refund, according to the recall.
Pasta Ingredients Manufactured by Nate’s Fine Foods
The penne pasta was manufactured by Nate’s Fine Foods, a company that supplies a variety of pre-cooked pasta ingredients that are used by other companies to make prepared meals, including “Heat & Eat” meal trays, store-made deli pasta salads, and other pasta products.
