June 23, 2016 — After consumers reported illnesses, Bolthouse Farms, Inc. issued a recall for 3.8 million protein shakes due to the risk of spoilage.
The products may “appear lumpy, taste unpleasant and have an off odor,” the company said in a notice posited on their website.
The recall includes “Protein PLUS” shakes in vanilla, chocolate, coffee, coconut, strawberry, and banana honey. “Mocha Cappuccino Perfectly Protein” shakes are also being recalled.
The products have “Best-By” dates between June 20 and September 18, 2016, which are printed on the cap and label at the neck of the bottle. The UPC appears on the bar code.
The company is currently investigating the source of the outbreak. In the meantime, consumers should not drink the recalled beverages. They can be returned to the store where purchased for a full refund.
