Injectafer Linked to Hypophosphatemia
Injectafer® iron injections were introduced in 2013 as a new type of treatment for adults with iron-deficiency anemia. Unfortunately, studies soon showed that Injectafer was far more likely than other iron injections to be associated with severe hypophosphatemia, a potentially life-threatening condition involving low phosphate levels in the blood.
Injectafer Lawsuits
Injectafer lawsuits accuse the pharmaceutical companies of failing to warn about the risk of hypophosphatemia from Injectafer. In fact, this side effect was not added to the label on Injectafer until February 2020.
What is the Problem?
Phosphate is one of the body’s electrolytes (minerals) that is found in the bloodstream and bones. It is essential for maintaining healthy teeth and bones. Phosphate also plays an important role in giving the body energy. Low phosphate levels can cause a wide range of health problems, especially when the problem persists for a long time.
Health Risks of Hypophosphatemia
- Extreme fatigue
- Bone softening (osteomalacia)
- Bone fractures
- Cardiac arrest
- Muscle weakness (rhabdomyolysis)
- Muscle pain
- Respiratory failure
- Seizures
- Heart failure
- Irregular heart rhythm (arrhythmias)
- Confusion
- Coma
- Death
Can I Join a Class Action?
The Schmidt Firm, PLLC is nationally recognized as a class action law firm, but we are not filing an Injectafer class action lawsuit. Instead, we are filing individual lawsuits for clients who were diagnosed with low phosphate levels in their blood (hypophosphatemia) and other injuries.
About Class Action Lawsuits
Class action lawsuits are typically filed by one person on behalf of a much larger group of people with similar legal claims. If compensation is awarded through a settlement or jury verdict, everyone who joins the class action lawsuit shares the payout, and lawyers charge a fee.
Why Our Law Firm is Filing Individual Lawsuits as Opposed to a Class Action
Instead of a class action, our law firm is filing individual lawsuits so we can focus on maximizing compensation for people who have suffered the most serious injuries as a result of using dangerous medications.
If you decide to file an Injectafer lawsuit, we may be able to help you seek justice and financial compensation for your health problems, lost income, disabilities, wrongful death of a family member, and more.
