Lunch Box Sandwiches Recalled for Listeria Risk
January 7, 2019 — Grand Stand Sandwich Company announced a voluntary recall for certain “Lunch Box” brand sandwiches because they may pose a risk of food poisoning infections with Listeria monocytogenes.
What is the Problem?
No illnesses were linked to the recalled sandwiches, but an FDA inspection on December 11, 2018 detected Listeria monocytogenes on swabs collected from the meat slicing area.
What Sandwiches Were Recalled?
The sandwiches were primarily sold at convenience stores and vending machines in North Carolina and South Carolina. The items were produced between December 17, 2018 and January 4, 2019, and packaged in clear plastic.
The recalled sandwiches include:

Listeria Food Poisoning
Listeria is a bacteria that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, including meningitis and sepsis. The symptoms may not appear for up to 70 days. When symptoms do appear, they often include high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, and miscarriage or stillbirth in pregnant women.

Customers whoo bought the recalled sandwiches can return them to the place of purchase for a full refund or throw the sandwiches away.
