October 20, 2017 — Mann’s Nourish Bowls® and a variety of fresh vegetable bags and salad kits have been recalled due to a possible risk of food poisoning with Listeria.
The recall was issued by Mann Packing, of Salinas, California, after Listeria was detected in a random sample during testing by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.
The products include minimally-processed vegetables in Mann’s Nourish Bowls®, pre-made salad kits, cole slaw, stir fry blends, bags of broccoli, cauliflower, brussels sprouts, and snack trays with vegetables, hummus, or cheese.
They were distributed to retailers in the United States and Canada and are marked with with “Best By” dates from October 12 through October 20, 2017.
There have been no illnesses with Listeria reported to date, but infections can be very serious or fatal — especially for people who are very young, elderly adults, pregnant women, and those with weak immune systems. The FDA also warns about serious complications:
“Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.”
