Mass Destruction & Liver Failure
December 2013 — The FDA issued a Drug Safety Communication after the North Carolina Department of Health alerted them about a possible link between Mass Destruction and liver failure. The victim was a 28-year-old man who was previously healthy before taking Mass Destruction. Just a few weeks later, he developed liver failure and needed a liver transplant.
FDA Recommendation
Due to the risk of liver failure, the FDA advises consumers to immediately stop using Mass Destruction and seek emergency medical attention for suspected health problems — especially symptoms of liver damage:
- Unexplained fatigue
- Abdominal or back pain (usually upper-right side)
- Dark-colored urine
- Nausea, vomiting
- Jaundice (yellowing of skin, eyes)
- And more
What is Mass Destruction?
Mass Destruction is advertised as a prohormone, which is a popular type of bodybuilding supplement that mimics the effects of anabolic steroids. However, the FDA is concerned because the ingredient label on Mass Destruction includes two synthetic anabolic steroids:
- 17a-methyl-1,4-androstadiene-3b (also known as M14-ADD)
- 18-Methylestr-4-en-3-one-17b-ol (also known as 18 Nano)
Mass Destruction is sold over the internet, in retail stores, and in gyms by Blunt Force Nutrition (BFN), which is based out of Sims, North Carolina. The FDA is still investigating who manufactures Mass Destruction.
Mass Destruction Side Effects
Like anabolic steroids, prohormones can have extremely serious side effects in men, women, and children. Mass Destruction has been linked to the following long-term side effects:
- Liver failure
- Heart attack
- Stroke
- Masculinization of women
- Shrinkage of male testicles
- Male breast enlargement
- Male infertility
- Poor growth in children
- And more
