May 21, 2020 — Ramer Foods recalled Peekaboo® Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream because it may be contaminated with Listeria.
The recall involves 14-ounce containers of Peekaboo® (Ice Cream + Hidden Veggies) Organic Mint Chocolate Chip with Hidden Spinach.
The ice cream was sold at Target stores in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. Only 33 containers were purchased.
The recalled products were sold in a 14-ounce paper container and they can be identified by UPC# 8685400001 and a “Best-Before” date of 10/08/2021.
Ramer Foods issued the recall after a routine internal test was positive for Listeria monocytogenes bacteria. The company suspended production to investigate the source of the contamination.
No illnesses were reported as of May 14, but food poisoning with Listeria can be severe, particularly for children, elderly adults, and people with weak immune systems. Pregnant women may suffer a miscarriage or stillbirth.
