RYOBI Pressure Washer Recall
In August 2025, TTI Outdoor Power Equipment recalled 764,000 RYOBI Pressure Washers due to projectile hazards and 32 reports of serious injuries.
What Happened?
TTI Outdoor Power Equipment said it received 135 reports of the pressure washer’s capacitor overheating, including 41 reports of explosions.
There were 32 reports of injuries involving projectiles that were forcefully ejected when the capacitor overheated and burst apart.
How Many People Were Injured?
The manufacturer said 32 people were injured when the capacitor for their recalled Ryobi Pressure Washer exploded. These reports included “fractures to the fingers, hands, face, and eyes.”
According to the recall:
“The pressure washer’s capacitor can overheat and burst, causing parts to be forcefully ejected, posing a risk of serious injury from impact to the user or bystanders.”
How To Identify RYOBI Pressure Washers
The recall involves RYOBI Electric Pressure Washers (models RY142300 and RY142711VNM). These pressure washers are green with a spray-nozzle, a detergent tank with a blue cap, and the name “RYOBI” printed on the front of the unit.
Consumers can visit the recall website to check if their pressure washer is being recalled.
Where Were They Sold?
The recalled pressure washers were sold between July 2027 and June 2024 at Home Depot, Direct Tools Factory Outlet stores nationwide, and online.
The recall also includes about 16,000 Ryobi Pressure Washers sold in Canada. As of August 20, 2025, no incidents or injuries were reported by Health Canada.
What Should I Do?
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled pressure washers and contact the manufacturer for a free repair kit, which will consist of a replacement capacitor and installation instructions.
