Guidecraft Toddler Towers Recalled After 11 Children Reportedly Fell
In May 2026, Guidecraft voluntarily recalled approximately 25,235 Classic and Contemporary Kitchen Helper Towers because the platform inside the tower can loosen and detach, posing a fall hazard to young children.
The recall covers 9 color options and was issued under CPSC recall number 26-490. The towers were manufactured in China and imported by Guidecraft of Mocksville, North Carolina.
What Is the Problem?
The CPSC describes the hazard as follows:
“The platform inside the recalled tower can loosen over time, causing it to become unstable or detach, and ultimately posing a fall hazard to young children.”
Toddler towers, also called learning towers or kitchen helpers, are designed to lift a child to counter height so they can participate in cooking, washing hands, or other kitchen activities. Guidecraft recommends Kitchen Helpers for children as young as 18 months. When the platform inside the tower loosens or detaches, a young child standing several feet above a hard kitchen floor can be sent into a fall they have no way to brace for.
How Many Children Were Injured?
According to the CPSC, Guidecraft received 11 reports of children falling from the recalled towers before the recall was announced. Of those 11 falls, 3 have been connected to reported injuries, including a bloody nose and bruises. No deaths have been reported.
Reported injuries to children in Kitchen Helper Tower falls include:
- Bloody nose
- Bruises
- Other fall-related injuries that may include head impact, lacerations, and dental injuries common in falls from elevated platforms
Because toddler towers position children at counter height — generally about 36 inches off the ground — a sudden platform failure can result in a serious head-first fall onto tile, hardwood, or stone. Many parents who own a Kitchen Helper Tower may not yet have connected a child’s fall in the kitchen to a defect in the tower itself.

The recall covers Classic and Contemporary Guidecraft Kitchen Helper Towers in 9 colors. Each affected tower has a specific item number and lot number printed on the foil sticker on the bottom of the platform. The full list of recalled item and lot numbers is published on Guidecraft’s recall page.
