Sun Hong Seafood Mushroom Recall

On May 28, 2021, Sun Hong Foods Inc. recalled all cases of Seafood Mushroom (Product of China) due to a risk of contamination with Listeria monocytogenes, a bacteria that can cause severe food poisoning.

The recalled seafood mushrooms were distributed in California, Texas, Washington, Illinois, and Florida.

The mushrooms were sold in the refrigerated section of stores, in packages of 5.3-ounces or 150-grams.

The words “100% Natural fresh” and “Mushrooms” are printed on the plastic package. “Seafood Mushroom” is printed in light green and white on the bottom half. The product is labeled with UPC 6 953150 011881 and the brand-name on the back: Sun Hong Foods, Inc.

Guan’s Seafood Mushroom Recall

On May 28, 2021, California Terra Garden recalled all 150-gram packages of Guan’s Seafood Mushroom (Product of China) after a package tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes, according to the California Department of Public Health.

The recalled seafood mushrooms were distributed nationwide from distributors and wholesalers in California.

The mushrooms were sold in a clear plastic package with the description “Seafood Mushroom” in English and French, Guan’s logo on the front, UPC code 859267007501, and Product code 3460.

What Are Seafood Mushrooms?

Seafood mushrooms are white, with long white stems, and mushroom caps, that are usually sold in clusters. The recalled seafood mushrooms were sold in a clear plastic tray that is packed in plastic.

Were Any Illnesses Reported?

No illnesses were reported. The recall was issued after samples of a product tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes, according to the California Department of Public Health.

Symptoms of Listeria Food Poisoning

Infections with Listeria can cause serious and sometimes fatal food poisoning, as well as miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women. The short-term symptoms may include a high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.
