Sunbeam CrockPot Lawsuits & Class Actions

Sunbeam Products is facing a growing number of lawsuits from people who were burned by a CrockPot Pressure Cooker that exploded. Here are a few examples:

  • In January 2020, a lawsuit was filed by a woman from Florida who was burned by a CrockPot Pressure Cooker. Like other victims, she was able to easily twist open the lid when there was still pressure inside the pot — Filing # 102592884.

Sunbeam CrockPot Recall After 99 Burn Injuries Reported

In November 2020, around 943,000 Sunbeam CrockPot Pressure Cookers were recalled due to a risk of burn injuries and explosions of hot food. There were 119 reports of the lid detaching, and 99 reports of people who suffered burn injuries ranging from 1st- to 3rd-degree burns, according to the recall notice.

What is the Problem?

The problem is that the recalled Sunbeam CrockPot Pressure Cooker can build up pressure when the lid is not fully locked:

“This can cause the lid to suddenly detach while the product is in use, posing burn risks to consumers from hot food and liquids ejected from the product.”

Was My Sunbeam CrockPot Recalled?

The recall involves 6-Quart Sunbeam Crock-Pot Express Pressure Cookers with Model Number SCCPPC600-V1. They were sold at Walmart, Target, other stores and online at Amazon.com from July 2017 through November 2020 for about $70 to $100.
