UPDATE: 2019 ThermaCare HeatWrap Recall
April 2019 — Pfizer recalled 1 lot of ThermaCare® Back Pain Therapy HeatWraps (16 Hour) because it may have cells that reach a higher temperature than specified. The use of a recalled HeatWrap poses a potential risk of skin injuries such as burns/blisters and/or skin irritation. 2018 ThermaCare Heat Wrap Recall
November 26, 2018 — Pfizer Inc. has recalled six lots of 8-hour Thermacare® Heat Wraps for joint, muscle, and menstrual pain because they can potentially leak and cause chemical burns, blisters, or skin irritation.
The use of a leaking or damaged Thermacare Heat Wrap could cause skin injuries such as burns, blisters, and skin irritation on the area of skin where the wrap is applied. The product label warns not to use the product if heat cell contents leak, or if the wrap is damaged or torn.
ThermaCare® Muscle Pain Therapy provides heat therapy for the temporary relief of minor muscular aches and pains associated with overexertion, strains, sprains, and arthritis. ThermaCare® Menstrual Pain Therapy provides heat therapy for temporary relief of minor menstrual cramp pain and associated backaches.
The recalled products were distributed nationwide to retailers, wholesalers and distributors in the United States, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands from September 2017 through August 2018.
