Listeria Food Poisoning

Eating food that is contaminated with Listeria bacteria can lead to severe, life-threatening food poisoning. The risk is greatest for young children, older adults, and people who are already very sick.

Symptoms of Listeriosis

Infections with Listeria, also known as listeriosis, may not cause symptoms for up to 70 days. When symptoms do appear, they are flu-like, and may include fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, convulsions, vomiting, or diarrhea.

An infection in a pregnant woman could result in a miscarriage, stillbirth, premature delivery or infection of the newborn.
