Salmon Recalled at BJ’s Wholesale Club for Listeria Risk
In February 2026, Slade Gorton & Co. Inc. has issued a recall for Wellsley Farms® Farm-Raised Atlantic Salmon that was sold in frozen 2-lb. bags at BJ’s Wholesale Club. The salmon may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, a bacteria that can cause illness.
What Happened?
No illnesses were reported. Instead, the problem was discovered when a random sample that was collected by the FDA tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes.
The manufacturer, Slade Gorton & Co., said it is “investigating how the contamination occurred and taking steps to keep it from happening again.”
How To Identify Recalled Salmon
The recall involves Wellsley Farms® Farm-Raised Atlantic Salmon, a frozen food item that was packaged in 2-pound bags. The frozen salmon was advertised as skinless, deboned, with no preservatives.
The recall involves bags with Lot Number 3896 and UPC 888670025963, which can be found on the back side of the bag, below the cooking instructions and Nutrition Facts panel.
The product was sold exclusively at BJ’s Wholesale Club stores in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Virginia from January 31 through February 7, 2026.

Listeria monocytogenes is a bacteria that can survive on frozen foods and make people sick. According to the FDA:
