Harbor Freight Recalls 19,000 Bauer Forced Air Heaters

In September 2021, Harbor Freight Tools has recalled about 19,000 Bauer® Forced Air Propane Heaters because they can leak propane gas and catch on fire.

What is the Problem?

The heaters were recalled because a fitting at the back of the heater may not be tight enough. This can cause the heater to leak propane gas, which poses a fire hazard. There were 13 reports of propane gas leaking, including one report of a fire. No injuries were reported.

What Heaters Were Recalled?

The recall involves Bauer® Forced Air Propane Heaters. The brand-name “Bauer” is printed on the side of the heater in white letters. The heater has item number 57176 printed on the ratings label at the rear of the unit located next to the gas inlet.

The recalled propane heaters were sold at Harbor Freight Tools stores nationwide and online at www.harborfreight.com from November 2020 until March 5, 2021 for about $100.

What Should I Do?

Harbor Freight Tools is asking consumers to stop using the recalled heaters and inspect them with a “soapy water leak test,” according to the instructions in the Owner’s Manual provided by Harbor Freight.
