Harbor Freight Propane Heater Recall
In July 2021, Harbor Freight Tools recalled about 350,000 One Stop Gardens 15,000 and 30,000 BTU Tank Top Propane Heaters due to a risk of fires and burn injuries.
What is the Problem?
In windy weather, the flame from the propane heater can blow toward the back of the unit. This can melt the “tip switch” safety shut-off feature. There is a risk that the heater will not turn off if it tips over. This poses a burn hazard to consumers.
How Many People Were Injured?
Harbor Freight said it has received 9 reports of the flame being redirected toward the back of the heater, and/or the “tip switch” safety feature melting. There were 3 reports of minor burn injuries when consumers tried to turn off the propane heater.
Was My Propane Heater Recalled?
The recalled propane heaters are designed to mount on top of a standard 20-pound propane tank. The recall involves the following products:
- One Stop Gardens 15,000 BTU Tank Top Propane Heater (Item #63073)
- One Stop Gardens 30,000 BTU Tank Top Propane Heater (Item #63072)
The recalled propane heaters were sold nationwide at Harbor Freight Tools stores and online at www.harborfreight.com from December 2015 through April 2021.
