Harbor Freight Chainsaw Recall
In May 2018, Harbor Freight Tools recalled over 1 million chainsaws because they can malfunction and fail to turn off.
The recall includes 14-inch chainsaws that were sold under the Portland®, One Stop Gardens®, and Chicago Electric® brand-names.
What is the Problem?
The power switch can malfunction and the chainsaw can stay “on” after the operator moves the switch to the “off” position.
How Many People Were Injured?
There have been 15 reports of chainsaws that stayed “on” after the operator turned the switch to the “off” position. Three people suffered lacerations, including 1 person with an arm injury that needed stitches.
What Chainsaws Were Recalled?
The recalled chainsaws were sold at Harbor Freight Tools stores nationwide and online from May 2009 to February 2018 for about $50.
