Blue Wave Above Ground Pool Recall

In December 2025, Blue Wave Products Inc., a company based in Batavia, Illinois, announced a recall for about 13,400 above-ground pools due to a design flaw that may allow children to access the pool, even without using the ladder, by using a foothold on the exterior of the pool. This poses a drowning hazard.

What is the Problem?

The recalled above-ground pools have a compression strap (also sometimes called a “reinforcing belt”) that wraps around the exterior of the pool, on the outside of the vertical support poles.

The gap between the strap and the support poles may create a foothold, which could allow a child to climb into the pool and drown. Children can gain access to the pool and drown, even if the ladder has been removed.

According to the recall:

“The compression strap that surrounds the outside of the pool legs may create a foothold, allowing a child access to the pool, posing a drowning risk.”

What Should I Do?

Customers should contact Blue Wave to request a repair kit. Until the pool is repaired, be sure that no children can access the pool unattended, or alternatively, drain the water out of the pool.

If you do not drain the water out of the pool, you should prevent children from accessing the pool by removing the pool ladders and any other objects near the pool, such as patio furniture, and locking gates or other barriers.

Blue Wave is urging customers to “Please stop using these recalled models immediately until you have installed the repair kit and removed the compression strap.”

For more information, including a complete list of recalled pool model numbers and descriptions, visit the recall website at https://bluewaveproducts.com/pages/recall.

Where Were They Sold?

The recalled pools were sold nationwide from January 2021 through July 2025 at The Home Depot, Lowe’s, Dunham’s Sports, other retail stores, and online at Amazon.com, Walmart.com, Wayfair.com for about $600 to $2,000 depending on size, model, and accessories.

How Will My Pool Be Repaired?

The compression strap helps the legs of the pool remain upright. It also maintains the structural integrity of the pool, so you should not cut off the compression strap until the repair is installed.

The repair kit consists of a rope that attaches to each of the vertical support poles at the ground-level and wraps around the pool. The rope will maintain the structural integrity of the pool.
