Frozen Cauliflower Recalled for Listeria Risk
In November 2021, Flagship Food Group announced a recall for certain TJ Farms Select® Frozen Cauliflower due to a risk of Listeria contamination.
What Cauliflower Was Recalled?
The recall involves frozen 16 oz. bags of TJ Farms Cauliflower (Lot Code 2077890089 and UPC 75544000604-3). The frozen cauliflower was imported from China and distributed in Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Wisconsin.
This recall was issued after a single sample of cauliflower was positive for Listeria monocytogenes in a random sample test conducted by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture, according to the recall.
What is the Problem?
No illnesses were reported, but infections with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria can cause severe and sometimes fatal food poisoning illnesses — especially in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.
What Are The Symptoms of Listeria?
Healthy people may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. However, Listeria infections can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
