What is the Problem?

In December 2025, CreateOn announced a recall for Crayola® Pip-Cubes Magnetic Building Cubes, which are magnetic building blocks that were sold in sets.

The magnetic building cubes contain magnets that can become loose if the seams separate. This poses a safety hazard if children swallow the magnets. CreateOn said there were 3 incidents, but no injuries reported.

Swallowing High-Powered Magnets Can Be Deadly

High-powered magnets can be deadly if they are swallowed, according to the warning posted by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC):

“When high-powered magnets are swallowed, the ingested magnets can attract to each other, or other metal objects, and become lodged in the digestive system. This can result in perforations, twisting, and/or blockage of the intestines, blood poisoning and death.”

How To Identify Recalled Products

The recall involves about 9,400 sets of Crayola Pip-Cubes, including the “Bold Colors” and “Glitter” sets. The sets contain 24 or 27 cubes. The sets can be identified by the following information:

  • Bold Colors, 24 Cubes: Model 1000199 — UPC 850067300199
  • Bold Colors, 27 Cubes: Model 1000243 — UPC 850067300205
  • Glitter Cubes, 24 Cubes: Model 1000205 — UPC 850067300205
  • Glitter Cubes, 27 Cubes: Model 1000250 — UPC 850067300250

Where Were They Sold?

The recalled Crayola Pip-Cubes sets were sold between May 2025 and July 2025 at Michael’s Stores nationwide and online at Michaels.com for about $20. The 27-piece sets were sold online at Amazon.com for about $35.

What Should I Do?

CreateOn is urging customers to immediately stop using the recalled Crayola Pip-Cubes sets, take them away from children, and contact CreateOn to register for a free replacement set.
