What Are Heated Insoles?

Heated insoles and heated socks are electronic, rechargeable devices that deliver warmth to a user’s feet. The insoles are powered by a lithium-ion battery that sends an electrical current through a wire mesh inside the insoles.

The battery is lightweight and recharges quickly, but it also contains highly-flammable chemicals. If the insole battery overheats, it can suddenly explode or ignite. Fires involving lithium-ion batteries can easily cause severe 3rd-degree burn injuries.

Heated Insole Lawsuit Filed for Severe Foot Burn Injuries

In February 2026, a lawsuit was filed by a man from Idaho who was severely burned on his foot by a Tajarly Heated Insole from Amazon that caught on fire inside his boot while he was at work.

What Happened?

The lawsuit was filed by Andrew S. C. (“Andy”), a self-employed heavy equipment mechanic and repairman who worked on farm equipment.

In February 2024, he was in his shop in Idaho and working while wearing the defective Tajarly Heated Insoles from Amazon, when “suddenly and without warning, [he] began experiencing immense pain and burning in his right foot.”

He looked down and was shocked to see that his boot was on fire and smoking. Despite his immediate efforts to remove the boot, he suffered severe burn injuries to his foot.

How Severe Were His Burn Injuries?

His foot was severely burned. He was rushed to the emergency room at a local hospital, only to be transferred to a specialized burn unit 2.5 hours away at another hospital in Idaho, where he stayed for 6 days.

He required multiple surgeries in the burn unit, including an excruciatingly painful debridement and skin graft transplant from his thigh onto his injured foot.

His job requires him to be on his feet the majority of the day. Instead, his injuries prevent him from working as a heavy equipment repairman. According to his lawsuit:

“Andy now lives with daily burning nerve pain, itching, discomfort, and has difficulty standing, which is causing numerous other issues with his hips, legs, and gait.”

The defendants include TAJARLY, a foreign company, SHENZHEN TEJIALI TECHNOLOGY CO., LTC., a foreign company, ZHANGFENGQING, a foreign company, iHEAT Group, a foreign company, DONGCANG QUANZHOU TRADING CO. LTD, doing business as TOKURA US, a foreign company.

His lawsuit was filed on February 16, 2026 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Idaho — Case No. 1:26-cv-00085-AKB.

CPSC Safety Warning for Tajarly Heated Insole Burn Hazards

In September 2025, U.S. safety officials issued a warning for Tajarly Heated insoles that were sold on Amazon due to fire and burn injury hazards.

According to the warning from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC):

“The internal lithium-ion battery can overheat and ignite, even when the insoles are turned off, posing a risk of serious burn injury and fire hazard. CPSC has received four reports of ignition, fires, and other thermal incidents involving the defective heated insoles resulting in burn injuries, including two incidents that required extended hospital stays.”

These defective Tajarly Heated Insoles are black, and they contain a lithium-ion battery. The name “Tajarly” is printed on the sole. They were sold on Amazon from July 2022 to July 2024 for $33 to $320.
