June 22, 2022 — The meal delivery service Daily Harvest has recalled French Lentil + Leek Crumbles after customers reported serious illnesses on social media.
Users reported food poisoning symptoms like nausea, vomiting, liver damage, and some were hospitalized after eating the product, which Daily Harvest launched on April 28.
French Lentil + Leek Crumbles are made made from lentils, quinoa, hemp seeds, butternut squash, cremini mushrooms, tara flour, leeks, and many other ingredients.
One Reddit user said their wife had symptoms like “extreme fatigue, dark urine, low-grade fever and whole-body itching with no rash.”
Abby Silverman, a fashion influencer, fell ill after eating a promotional sample from Daily Harvest. She posted a video claiming that she became seriously ill, went to the hospital twice, and was hospitalized once overnight with elevated liver enzymes and other symptoms.
In response, Daily Harvest issued a statement acknowledging reports of “gastrointestinal issues” and urging customers to “dispose of the product and not eat it.”
